  1. Who r the guys in the band - different characters?

Line-up is Olavi Tikka; vocals and harmonica, Tomi Julkunen; guitars, Marko Kiviluoma; guitars, Veli Palevaara; bass and Tommi Manninen; drums. We’re really different personalities, but that’s why we sound like The Milestones. It’s the chemistry thing and off course being a band for 20 years shapes the sound.

b) Your favorite bands / musicians

There’s so many but here’s few that have influenced me over the years while writing songs for The Milestones; The Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith, The Cult, AC/DC, KISS, Fleetwood Mac (Stevie & Lindsay era), Buckcherry and so on. I just love all kinds of music!

c) What kinda music do u really hate?

I don’t hate any kind of music really. Hate is just too strong word, I rather say that I don’t like certain kind of music. I can’t say that I’m too fond of so called Hipster music. It just sucks in my opinion. Not too keen on so called “art” music either. It just doesn’t sound good to me.

d) Which records would u take to a lonely isle here u only have a cd player?

If I could take 10 albums those would be; Fleetwood Mac – Rumours, Guns And Roses – Appetite For Destruction, The Cult – Sonic Temple, Lenny Kravitz – Mama Said, Iron Maiden – Powerslave, The Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion, Aerosmith – Permanent Vacation, KISS – Alive!, Queen – Live Magic, AC/DC – Back In Black

e) What else would u need?

My guitars and a cool chick would be good to have.

f) Funniest tour experience?

There's so many funny moments but usually the funniest ones include nakedness in one form or another. It's a Finnish thing, getting drunk and then getting naked. Not so much of that happening these days anymore, which is kinda good.

g) Worst or most embaressing situations?

Fortunately not too many embarrassing situations. Years ago our PA went out for a while in the middle of the show. But was kind of shitty situations but the PA got fixes after 10 minutes or so.

h) Best concert u´ve ever seen?

Probably the most entertaining was Robbie Williams in Dublin, I guess it was around 2003 or so. Over hundred thousand people in the audience. Robbie was definitely in his element.

i) Best newcomerband?

Hmm,  Temperance Movement is pretty good. So is Rival Sons. Don't know if they count as new comers anymore but still, great band especially live.

j) Nicest holiday?

There’s so many; one of the best was when I was in San Francisco years ago. Just fell in love with the place and would love to spend longer time there in the future. Inspirational place.

k) Happy about...

My life at the moment. So many good things happening at the same time, both my bands are doing well and creating new music. I’m healthy and happy, no complaints.

l) Disappointed about...

That summer is finally over. Such a nice summer this one, so warm and sunny. I probably have to move to Southern Europe at some point as I really don’t like cold winters.

m) Where did u grow up?

In a small town about 40km from Helsinki. Me and our bass player are from the same tow. We’ve been known each other and played together since I was 12 years old. Imagine that, we were just kids when we started making music.

n) Favorite food?

My moms cookings when ever I have a chance to visit her, especially meatballs and mashed potatoes. Where ever I travel I always try to taste local meatballs.

o) Can u cook?

Yeah, but I need cooking book for instructions. But I do enjoy cooking, I just don’t do it very often.

p) Your idols, influences?

Pretty much the same bands I mentioned earlier. As a guitarist I idolize Joe Perry from Aerosmith, Slash, Lenny Kravitz, Angus Young from AC/DC and so on.

q) How was school?

It was always pretty easy for me. I was a good student and got good grades without too much effort. I hardly ever skipped glasses so I was a good boy in that sense.

r) Still have “normal” jobs?

Yes, we all have day jobs. I’m actually starting a new one in November. I’ll be children’s instructor in the kindergarten.

s) Most important things in life?

Health and people close to you. Without health and those people you’ve got nothing. Material things don’t matter, you can always have all kinds of stuff but once the health is gone everything else is worthless.

t) Would u be a good politician?

No, I’m too honest and care for people too much. To me it seems that most of the politicians are just bunch of fucking fools, only interested in saving their own ass.

u) Any bad habits?

Not really, even gave up smoking over a year ago. I try to lead a healthy life style by jogging and riding a bike. I try not to eat too much junk food.

v) Does your family support your musical success?

Yeah, my parents and sisters are all very proud of my accomplishments. It’s exciting for them as well. My dad was in the audience when we supported Whitesnake in Helsinki for the first time.

w) Do u believe in god?

Not really. To me it’s just strange to have all these different religions. I mean, I don’t mind. People can believe whatever they want to believe in if it makes them feel better. But all kinds of fanatics are just using religion as an excuse to get power and destroy lives. That kind of behavior is just fucking insane, nothing to do with believing in god of whatever.

x) In what else do u believe?

I believe in humanity, I believe that people all are good when they born. No one borns evil or rasist or any of that sort of bullshit. It's usually upbringing that brings out the worst in some people.

y) What is most important 4 u?

Health, music, love, family and friends. I keep saying music is life, life is music. And that's true. World without music would be horrible and sad place.

z) Last statement?

Never give up hope people, there's always something that make things better one way or the other. Care for each other and do things you enjoy in life. That's what I'm trying to do. Be grateful about every day as life is too short for negative thinking.
